Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore --
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

-Langston Hughs (1902-1967)

what do you think?

I think I stopped criticizing literature sometime around May or June.
That being said, you didn't quite ask for LitCrit. So I can smile and think and answer.

It depends on the dream.
Some dreams just go away.
Others are important and stay.
Still others neigh and bray...
like a horse.

See, I could be Langston Hughes too!

TIM! you could be! i miss you! yeah, i found the poem in my poetry text book (implying that i'm in a poetry class, hence the "LitCrit") but it made me think of boston, or just any dream i've had in general. and i liked the question posed. but more, the fact that it invited me to look for an answer.
